Emerson Hospital Teams with IMPACT Melanoma to Sponsor 15 Sunscreen Dispensers in Concord and Surrounding Communities

IMPACT Melanoma, a national non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of melanoma, is pleased to announce they have teamed with Emerson Hospital to deploy automatic sunscreen dispensers at 15 high-traffic locations, including parks and recreation facilities, beaches, rail trails, and athletic fields. The dispensers provide complementary sunscreen throughout Concord, Bedford, Westford, Hudson, Sudbury, Acton, and Maynard. 
 

Local Resident Becomes First in State to Be Certified in Dance for Parkinson’s Disease

Susanne Liebich, instructor with The Steinberg Wellness Center at Emerson Hospital, is the first person in Massachusetts to earn a Certification in Dance for Parkinson’s Disease (PD®). Dance for PD classes at the Steinberg Wellness Center invite those with PD and caregivers to experience the benefits and joys of dance while helping to enhance balance, cognition, mobility, depression and physical confidence. 

Emerson Hospital's 5k Run~Walk for Cancer

Register now for Emerson Hospital’s 5k Run ~ Walk for Cancer, and save $5. Advance registration is available through May 10th.  Walk-in registrations the morning of the event are also welcome! The Run~Walk event will take place rain or shine on Saturday morning, May 18th at NARA Park in Acton.  

This popular annual event features a 5k chip-timed run and walk, a 1 mile kids’ run, food, music, games, giveaways and more. Budson, MD, Professor of Neurology at Boston University and Chief of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology at the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System, will provide real-world advice about how to know when memory is normal and how to understand what memory impairment means. Emerson Hospital Hosts Family Health and Wellness Expo on May 4 in Concord

Join us at Emerson Hospital’s annual Family Health and Wellness Expo on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the hospital’s main campus located at 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in Concord. The Expo will feature free health screenings and general health information, conversations with health and wellness experts, reiki, chair massage, face painting and more.

Emerson’s Steinberg Wellness Center for Mind and Body Hosts Open House

Emerson Hospital invites the community to an Open House of its Steinberg Wellness Center for Mind and Body on Saturday, March 30 from 2 p.m. -5 p.m. at 310 Baker Avenue, Concord. A variety of free demonstrations and lectures on the latest wellness topics, including acupuncture, yoga, self-defense, muscular therapies, rolfing bodywork and tai chi will be offered. Participants who register for classes at the open house will receive a discount. Tours, raffles, giveaways and refreshments will be available.

Emerson Hospital 5k Run~Walk for Cancer on May 18 to Benefit Neighbors with Cancer

Registration is now open for this year’s Emerson Hospital 5k Run~Walk for Cancer.  The popular event brings together runners, walkers, and families from all over to support cancer patients who are treated at the Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital - Bethke. Bike Camp for Children with Special Needs Now Accepting Registrations

Emerson Hospital’s Clough Family Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies is hosting its fifth annual bike camp for children and adults with special needs during April school vacation week - April 15-19, 2019. Held in conjunction with Lawrence Academy, the camp is open to those who are at least eight years old, have a disability and are able to walk without an assistive device. Trained counselors and spotters work individually with campers to teach them how to ride a conventional bike.
